Building A Budget Like a Chad
...Only 5 left before the price doubles....As the budgetpoor gooroos would say
Budget, budget budget. I had previously shown how to streamline your budget process here:
If you are following the rules to be a Chad, you are:
Cranking up your income to well over $100k a year quickly - $300k is the new $100k as they say
Making sure you are saving & investing 25%+ of your money
Building alternative streams of income (Or at a minimum getting risk free-ish $1,000s as shown here)
Making smart decisions by weighing opportunity costs
But some of you may still be young or just starting your journey to financial independence. You may be at an entry level job or you may be in a low-paying career after getting poor advice about following your ‘passion’ as a job. Maybe you are just playing catch-up after loading up on student loans to go to your dream school.
Whatever the reason, there are times that you need to tighten down to get out of a financial hole.
Budget vs Tracking Spending
Budgets have been turned into a gross concept by froogal doggies. They are strict, take a lot of time, and have you saying things like
“Hey wife, I know you wanted to go out to that new restaurant for out monthly allotted date, but I looked up the prices on the menu and don’t you think it would be better to eat leftovers at home.” (or the female equivalent would be nagging your husband for spending on the only hobby he has that brings joy in his life).
“Bros, so I only drank water and don’t think its fair to split the bill”
“Hey kids, instead of going to that event, let’s stay home and play with the hose…for your allowed 7.5 minutes because the water bill was high last month”.
Just like the big viral thing that just hit the internet is some jacked dude having a 6 hr morning routine of ice water face dips and banana peel massages, the froogal doggie act gets views and lets the gooroo shill overpriced slop, but it is not a fun way to live day-to-day.
[The irony is any budgetpoor account that starts to make it (aka shilling enough $5k budget courses), suddenly lets the mask slip and starts occassionally talking about how it is ok to spend a little and enjoy life...Almost like making more money was always the answer.]
But a budget doesn’t have to be icky. If done correctly, it is actually helpful.
