No idea when exactly the shares were purchased 20+ years ago, but in January 2003 MCD 0.00%↑ was in the teens ($14.90 on 1/24/2003) so the shares are likely up over 15x from when they were gifted meaning even a $1,000 gift is now worth over $15,000 on price appreciation alone (not including dividends).
