Being born in a lower class area with lots of potentially aggressive people all around gives you a very particular outlook on life. One aspect of that is being cagey with personal information. It only takes a few times seeing a kid bragging about the new 'thing’ his family got, and then hearing about their house getting broken into and it stolen, before you realize its better to not share. Similarly, sharing too much about yourself only gives extra avenues for conmen or manipulators to use that info to their advantage.
However, when communicating with an audience, people like to feel a connection. Oversharers rule in the attention economy.
Well, this week we welcomed the newest little F’er to the family. We are well past the point of being able to fit into the froogal gooroos favorite car (a 2001 Toyota Corolla) and with the newest addition, Mrs. F’er is officially putting the kibosh on any more pregnancies (although adoption is on the table).
With that going on in the background, and with a sufficient amount of ‘free’ time to think while pacing around the house rocking this Lil F’er, it seems opportune to look back and reflect on the best decisions that have lead to this point.
As one of the ‘elders’ around these parts (because being spitting distance to 40 makes you old), who has lived a fairly interesting and successful life, hopefully you find helpful items on this list for wherever you are in your life’s journey.
